RCMP search warrant execution leads to recovery of stolen property and seizure of drugs, firearm
Southwest Nova Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SWN SCEU) recovered stolen property and seized drugs and weapons during a search warrant execution. Two people have been charged with related offences.
On September 18, as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, SWN SCEU executed two search warrants, one at a residence on Granite Dr. in New Minas and another at a commercial storage locker in Kentville. Two people were safely arrested at the home.
Over the course of the two searches, officers seized quantities of four different drugs including fentanyl and cocaine, as well as drug paraphernalia. They located and seized a firearm, two replica firearms, multiple knives, and other prohibited devices. They also recovered items believed to have been stolen, including a significant number of tools, a variety of electronics, bicycles, and a flat deck trailer.
Michael Wayne Nicholson, 41, of New Minas, is facing 27 charges and Tali Candina Reid, 32, of Wolfville is facing 25 charges. Offences for both include multiple counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Unauthorized Possession of Firearm. They appeared in Kentville Provincial Court on September 19. Nicholson remains in custody pending future court appearances. Reid was released by the courts pending a scheduled court appearance in October.
The investigation is ongoing. Officers are continuing to catalogue the recovered items by brand, serial numbers, and unique identifiers. Efforts to locate owners are underway.
