RCMP charges man after recovering stolen property; seeking assistance to identify others

East Hants District RCMP has charged a man after recovering stolen property in North Noel Road, and is seeking assistance to identify two other individuals involved in the thefts.

On October 5, at approximately 6:35 a.m., East Hants District RCMP responded to a report that a stolen Chevrolet Silverado, trailer, and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) had been located at a property in the 0-100 block of Findley Rd., and that a man and woman had been seen entering a nearby wooded area.

While en route to the scene, officers learned that a Pontiac Vibe had just left the property.

Upon arrival, officers located the Pontiac and arrested a man who was seated in the passenger seat. Through the investigation, officers learned that another man and a woman had been in the vehicle before police arrived and fled on foot into the woods.

With the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, officers searched for the man and woman; however, they weren’t located.

Marshall Donald Arthur Ellis, 28, of Dartmouth, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 (three counts)

  • Failing to Comply with Release Order

Ellis appeared in Truro Provincial Court on October 6. He remains in custody until his next scheduled appearance on October 15 in Shubenacadie Provincial Court.

Other stolen materials, including tools and construction materials, were also at the Findley Rd. location. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of RCMP Forensic Identification Services.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident, including the identity of the man and woman who fled from the Pontiac, to contact East Hants District RCMP at 902-883-7077. Police are also seeking information about suspicious activity in the area and any thefts that haven’t yet been reported.
