RCMP charge high-risk offender with forcible confinement, robbery, and firearms offences
Colchester County District RCMP has charged a man after an initial report of shots fired at a vehicle.
On September 23, Sipekne’katik RCMP Detachment responded to a report that a man had shot a vehicle the previous day while people were inside.
Through the investigation, officers learned a man was in a vehicle with two people known to him when he presented a firearm inside the vehicle. They drove the vehicle to a residence, where a confrontation took place about money. The man fired shots from inside the car and forced the victims inside the residence. The victims were later able to exit the residence and return to the vehicle. The man, who did not leave the residence with the victims, fired at the vehicle from outside as they drove away.
No physical injuries were reported by the victims.
With the location of the residence being in Colchester County, the Colchester County District RCMP Community Action Team took over the investigation.
On September 24, investigators safely arrested Robert “Robbie” Edgar Paul, 34, of Millbrook, and a second person at a residence on Indian Rd. in Mill Village.
Paul, previously designated as a high-risk offender, is charged with 8 offences including Forcible Confinement, Robbery with a Firearm, multiple other firearms-related offences, and Failure to Comply with Probation Order. He had a first court appearance on September 25 at Truro Provincial Court and remains in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 29.
Officers also executed a search warrant at this residence. During the search, they seized evidence related to the investigation and a quantity of cocaine.
The second person arrested was released without charges.
The investigation is ongoing and has been supported by Sipekne’katik RCMP Detachment, East Hants District RCMP, Colchester County District RCMP, and Nova Scotia RCMP Forensic Identification Services.

RCMP charge man after robbery in Lower Sackville
RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has charged a man following a robbery in Lower Sackville.
On September 28, at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at a business in the 700 block of Sackville Dr. Officers learned that a man had left the store without paying for several items and, when confronted by staff, produced a knife. The man was described as wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black cargo pants, and carrying a green reusable shopping bag. He was last seen on foot heading toward the north end of the parking lot.
No one was injured.
Officers attended within minutes and located a man matching the description. He was arrested and searched, and a knife and the stolen items were recovered.
Dawson Donald Cyril Lively, 19, of Dartmouth, has been charged with Robbery and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He appeared in Halifax Provincial Court on September 29.
