RCMP arrests two people following New Minas robbery
Kings District RCMP has arrested two people following a robbery in New Minas.
On October 2, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress at a business in the 9100 block of Commercial St.
A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle, a grey Ford Ranger, in a parking lot on Highland Ave. With assistance from Kentville Police Service, both occupants of the truck were safely arrested.
The 64 year-old woman and 67 year-old man, both of New Minas, were released on conditions. They’re scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on November 25 to each face a charge of Robbery.

RCMP charge man after stabbing and barricaded incident
Cumberland County District RCMP has charged a man following a stabbing in Springhill.
On October 4, a 50-year-old woman attended the Springhill RCMP detachment to report that she had been stabbed by a man known to her inside a home on Queen St.
The woman was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers located the suspect at the residence. The man refused to exit the home and indicated he was in possession of a firearm.
General duty officers, along with the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, attended the scene and safely arrested the man.
Austin Charles Wayne MacKenzie, 27, of Springhill, has been charged with:
Assault with Weapon
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Assault while Choking, Suffocating or Strangling
Uttering Threats
Fail to Comply with Release Order
MacKenzie appeared in Amherst Provincial Court on October 5 and was remanded into custody pending another court date on October 8.
