RCMP arrests man for impaired driving in Upper Tantallon
RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested a man for impaired driving after receiving a 911 call from an alert motorist.
On September 23, at approximately 4:15 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a Subaru travelling east on Hwy. 3 in Hubbards swerving in its lane. Officers learned that the Subaru briefly pulled over near Fox Point Front Rd. before continuing east.
An officer located a Subaru, which matched the description, in a parking lot in the 3600 block of Hammonds Plains Rd. in Upper Tantallon and observed the driver exit the vehicle. The officer spoke with the driver who was showing signs of impairment.
The driver, a 35-year-old man from Barrs Corner, was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to the Tantallon RCMP Detachment, where he provided one breath sample. The driver then refused to provide a second breath sample.
The man was later released and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court to face charges of Impaired Driving and Failure to Comply with Demand for Testing.
Everyone has a role to play in keeping our roads safe. Reporting a possible impaired driver could prevent a serious collision, injury, or death. Suspected impaired drivers can be reported by calling 911.
