Police lay assault charges
On September 20 at approximately 8 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault in the 5900-block of Spring Garden Road in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who reported the assault was unprovoked and took place as she was walking near the intersection of Spring Garden Road and Robie Street. The suspect was not known to the victim. Officers located and arrested the suspect without incident.
The man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
Assault
Assault causing bodily harm
Obstruct public-peace officer
Causing a disturbance

Police charge shoplifter
On September 20 at approximately 6:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft at the Superstore, located at 6141 Young Street in Halifax. It was reported that a repeat shoplifter stole merchandise and fled on foot. Officers located and arrested the suspect without incident. During the investigation, officers determined the woman was believed to be the suspect in 22 other incidents.
Jennifer Bowser, 40, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
Theft under $5000.00 (x20)
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 (x20)
Unlawfully use a credit card (x2)
Unlawfully possess a credit card (x2)
Fail to attend court

Police charge shoplifter
On September 20 at approximately 9 p.m., police observed a man behind the Superstore located at 6141 Young Street in Halifax. The man was believed to be a suspect in several thefts. Officers arrested the suspect without incident.
Matthew Hogan, 37, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
Theft under $5000.00 (x11)
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 (x11)
Failure to comply with condition of release order (x2)

Police lay firearm and drug trafficking charges
Police have charged a man with firearm and drug trafficking offences.
On September 18 at approximately 7 p.m., investigators with the Gun and Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, arrested a man on the Chain of Lakes Trail in Halifax in relation to an ongoing firearm and drug investigation. During the arrest, investigators located and seized a loaded handgun, a quantity of drugs and a quantity of money.
Alexander Vandonick, 35, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
Possess weapon dangerous to public peace
Store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
Unauthorized possession of firearm
Possess firearm - no license/certificate
Possess loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
Possession for purpose of trafficking (x2)
Possession for the purpose of distributing
Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
