Nova Scotia RCMP joins national road safety campaign over Thanksgiving weekend
This weekend, October 9 – 12, the Nova Scotia RCMP will increase its enforcement of impaired, distracted, aggressive and fatigued driving, along with seatbelt use, as part of a national traffic safety campaign.
Operation Impact, led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, combines education, awareness and enforcement to encourage safe driving behaviours and help reduce preventable collisions on Canada's roads. This year's theme, "Safety is in YOUR Hands," reminds drivers that every decision behind the wheel matters.
" Whether you're travelling across the province or just down the road this Thanksgiving weekend, simple choices behind the wheel can make a big difference,” says S/Sgt. Wes Blair, Nova Scotia RCMP Traffic Services. “Drive sober, slow down, put distractions away, stay focused, and buckle up."
Road safety is a shared responsibility. By making safe choices and staying alert, road users can help prevent collisions and protect themselves, their passengers and others who share Nova Scotia's roads.
This Thanksgiving help everyone get home safely. Safety is in YOUR Hands.
