At approximately 1:53 a.m., Kings District RCMP, EHS, and fire services responded to a crash notification on Hwy. 1 in Grand Pré.
When officers arrived, they found that the grey Honda Civic carrying five occupants had left the roadway and gone over an embankment.
An 18-year-old man from Prospect Bay was pronounced deceased at the scene. Of the four remaining occupants, three were transported to hospital by EHS, while a fourth man was transported by EHS LifeFlight with life-threatening injuries.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended both crash locations and the investigation is ongoing with support from the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) will review the preliminary evidence to determine whether the matter falls within its mandate for investigation.
