Eagle rescue!

21703Every patient we admit starts with a rescue of some kind or other. Sometimes, they are easy, and sometimes they are more challenging!

This bald eagle was found struggling to swim with drenched in the straight between Cape Breton and the mainland. When he finally made it to shore, the people watching him realized he had a significant foot injury and called us. When help arrived, he managed to fly a bit and landed once again in water in a small cove. When he came to land once again, Eileen from our Cape Breton drop-off ran down there and managed to get a sheet over him just as he flipped on his back. She got him secured and into a box for transport back to the clinic. Just another day at Hope for Wildlife! Thanks to photographer Annie Doucet for the great capture of the moment.

Our 50/50 raffle is at $17,180! There's just under 19 days until the draw, so don't miss out on your tickets. The holidays are coming, so it could make a huge difference for some lucky person as well as hundreds of patients, just like this eagle.
