Digby RCMP Detachment investigating fatal off-road vehicle collision
Digby RCMP Detachment is investigating a fatal collision involving two off-road vehicles that occurred near Weymouth.
On September 22 at approximately 11:50 p.m., Digby RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Sissiboo Rd., southwest of Gilberts Cove Rd. Officers learned that two off-road vehicles were travelling in the same direction on the rural road when one hit the other from behind. The driver and passenger were thrown from the second (following) vehicle on impact.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 33-year-old Bear River man, was pronounced deceased on scene. The passenger on that vehicle, a 23-year-old Digby woman, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The driver and only rider of the lead vehicle, a 27-year-old Hasset woman, did not report injuries.
Sissiboo Rd. was closed for several hours in the immediate area of the collision while an RCMP collision reconstructionist attended.
The investigation is ongoing.
