Charge laid in homicide investigation
Police have charged a woman for the December 2024 homicide of Jeffrey Alexander Emmerson.
On December 22, 2024, police responded to Geary Street in Dartmouth for a report of a male who had been assaulted by a female. Paramedics responded but the man declined medical attention and further police investigation.
On December 26, 2024, police responded to a call to the Geary Street area where the same male was located deceased in a tent. The male was identified as 56-year-old Jeffrey Alexander Emmerson.
In June 2025, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service notified police that the autopsy findings indicated the manner of death to be homicide.
This morning, Kiara Marie Organ, 22, was arrested and charged with manslaughter. She will appear in Dartmouth provincial court today.
