Traffic Delay – Herring Cove Road

Location: Herring Cove Road, between Autumn Drive and McIntosh Street

Date: Friday, Nov. 28

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to natural gas service installation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – St. Margarets Bay Road

Location: St. Margarets Bay Road, from Chandler to Peggys Cove roads

Date: Thursday, Nov. 27

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: An altered centerline will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Maple and Dahlia streets

Location: Intersection of Maple and Dahlia streets

Date: Friday, Nov. 28

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: There will be lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Roadway Closure – Lady Hammond Road

Location: Lady Hammond Road, between Mackintosh and Commission streets

Date and time: From 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27 to 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28

Work details: This is to facilitate road surface restoration related to preparations for the upcoming Windsor Street Exchange project.

Traffic impact: Marked detours will be in place while this work is underway. Local access to Mackintosh Street via Lady Hammond Road will be maintained during this work. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Pedestrian impacts: A marked pedestrian detour will be in place around this work.

Transit impacts: Halifax Transit routes 29 and 93 will follow marked detours and the bus stop on Lady Hammond Road after Mackintosh Street (7093) will be closed during these traffic impacts. See all active Halifax Transit service disruptions here.

Location: Barrington Street, between South and Hollis streets

Date: Wednesday, Nov. 26

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate a natural gas service installation.

Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Roadway Closure – Dutch Village Road

Location: Dutch Village Road, between Rosedale Avenue and Supreme Court

Date: Tuesday, Dec. 2 (weather dependent)

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate the final layer of roadway paving for the northern section of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.

Traffic impacts: This area will be closed to traffic in both directions while this work is underway. Detour signage will be in place, and personnel will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Access to nearby businesses and properties is being maintained throughout this project.

Transit impacts: The existing Halifax Transit impacts will continue to be in place during this work.

Inbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alex Street, Main Avenue and Titus Street to Dutch Village Road. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:

  • Rosedale Avenue at civic 34 (8242)
  • Rosedale Avenue before Dutch Village Road (8243)
  • Dutch Village Road before Andrew Street (6609)
  • Dutch Village Road before Sunnybrae Avenue (6638)
  • Joseph Howe Drive before Scot Street (6986) (only for route 28)

Outbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alma Crescent, Main Avenue and Alex Street to Rosedale Avenue. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:

  • Dutch Village Road after Alma Crescent (9042)
  • Dutch Village Road before Rufus Avenue (6614)
  • Dutch Village Road before Rosedale Avenue (6613)
  • Rosedale Avenue after Dutch Village Road (8245)
  • Rosedale Avenue at civic 23 (8244)
  • Dutch Village Road before Central Avenue (6788)

Traffic Delay – Barrington Street

Location: Barrington Street between Cogswell Street and Upper Water Street

Date: Monday, Nov. 24 until Thursday Nov. 27

Time: 24/7

Details: A by-pass pump will be installed in the bus lane to facilitate work to Halifax Water infrastructure in this vicinity. This work is in support of the Cogswell District project. Please note this is separate from the ongoing work at the intersection of Duke and Barrington streets.

Traffic impact: A lane drop will be in place while this work progresses. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.
