**** Via Hope for WildlifeThis poor raccoon was found trapped inside of a compost bin which was filled with clumping cat litterThe cat litter was packed inside of all of his fur, and he had even eaten a bunch of it along with whatever foodstuff was still in the bin. We found out he had ingested it when he started pooping it out! He must have been pretty hungry.That's not all, one of his hind legs was quite swollen and had an open wound, which was an injury that probably happened before he fell into the bin.We've cleaned him up, given him lots of meds for his wounds and to help prevent infections, and he's resting comfortably and eating proper food.Please make sure to secure your green bins - a good way is by using strong, thick rubber bungee cord. It needs to be tight. If you have to struggle a bit to get it off, you can be sure no animal will be able to pull it off. And thick rubber is hard to chew through. And try to keep it clear of any structure animals can climb up on.
