Lunenburg County District RCMP is investigating a collision in Blockhouse that resulted in serious injuries to two people and an outage to area phone and internet lines.
On November 5 at approximately 8:00 a.m., RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Northwest Rd. between Blockhouse and Fauxburg. Two vehicles had collided resulting in one vehicle, an oil truck, leaving the roadway and catching on fire. The driver was able to safely exit the truck. Fire services extracted the driver of the second vehicle, a Hyundai Accent.
The drivers, and only vehicle occupants, were transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The collision and fire damaged phone lines in the area, which caused a phone and internet outage.
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The road was closed for several hours and has since reopened. The investigation remains ongoing.
