**** NS Gov Release The Long Lake wildfires complex continues to be held at an estimated 8468 hectares. No new reports of damage Yesterday, crews had another very successful day and made good progress. They have advanced 100-150 feet inward on the eastern side of the fire. With dry weather, the fire continues to burn deep and hot in some areas of the interior. Crews are using infrared scanners that detect heat to identify areas to focus on. Crews also continue working to remove hazards like hot spots, ash pits, and trees with weakened roots. Resources available today include 8 helicopters, 4 planes and a bird dog, 7 pieces of heavy equipment and 7 water tankers. Firefighters on site: 37 DNR, 59 Quebec, plus support staff.
