Traffic Delay – Highway 2
Location: Highway 2, from Fall River Road to Coach Avenue
Date: Thursday, September 18
Time: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Work details: This work includes road repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Barrington and Upper Water streets
Location: Intersection of Barrington and Upper Water streets
Date: Wednesday, Sept. 17 to Thursday, Sept. 18
Time: 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Work details: This closure is required to install traffic poles at the intersection. This work is in support of the Cogswell District project.
Traffic impact: The traffic signals will be turned off and traffic control will direct traffic through the intersection. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Traffic Delay – Main Street
Location: Near 139 Main Street, Dartmouth
Date: Wednesday, Sept. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 18
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to accommodate restoration work.
Traffic impact: Two lanes of traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Caldwell Road and Cow Bay Road
Location: Intersection of Caldwell Road and Cow Bay Road
Date: Friday, Sept. 12 to Friday, Oct. 3
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work includes road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: The lights at the intersection will be turned off and and stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Willett Street
Location: Willett Street, between Dunbrack Street and Lacewood Drive
Date: Monday, Sept. 15 to Friday, Sept. 19
Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained with a lane reduction in place during this work. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project area
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Joseph Howe Drive and Alma Crescent
Dates: Friday, Sept. 19 to Friday, Dec. 21, 2025
Time: 24/7
Work details: This work is part of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impacts: Access to nearby businesses and properties is being maintained throughout this project.
At 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, crews expect the current phase of work along the west side of Dutch Village Road to be completed.
After 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, crews will shift the lane closure to the east side of Dutch Village Road to facilitate the next phase of work. The changes outlined below will also come into effect.
Dutch Village Road will open to southbound traffic from Supreme Court toward the southern intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Bayers Road. Dutch Village Road will be closed to northbound traffic in the project area.
Access to and from these streets along the west side of Dutch Village Road will open:
- Sunnybrae Avenue
- Central Avenue
- Rosedale Avenue
- Frederick Avenue
- Rufus Avenue
Access to and from these streets along the east side of Dutch Village Road will close:
- Deal Street (local access maintained via the northern intersection with Dutch Village Road)
- Andrew Street (local access maintained via Percy Street)
Detour signage will be in place, and personnel will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Pedestrian impacts: Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Transit impacts: The existing Halifax Transit impacts will continue to be in place during the second phase of this work.
Inbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alex Street, Main Avenue and Titus Street to Dutch Village Road. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:
- Rosedale Avenue at civic 34 (8242)
- Rosedale Avenue before Dutch Village Road (8243)
- Dutch Village Road before Andrew Street (6609)
- Dutch Village Road before Sunnybrae Avenue (6638)
- Joseph Howe Drive before Scot Street (6986) (only for route 28)
Outbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alma Crescent, Main Avenue and Alex Street to Rosedale Avenue. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:
- Dutch Village Road after Alma Crescent (9042)
- Dutch Village Road before Rufus Avenue (6614)
- Dutch Village Road before Rosedale Avenue (6613)
- Rosedale Avenue after Dutch Village Road (8245)
- Rosedale Avenue at civic 23 (8244)
- Dutch Village Road before Central Avenue (6788)

Traffic Delay - Pleasant Street
Location: Pleasant Street, between Old Ferry Road and Newcastle Street
Dates: Monday, Sept. 15 until Saturday, Sept. 20
Time: 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20
Work details: This is to facilitate the safe water and sewer connections for a new development in the area.
Traffic impact: A single lane will be closed in the outbound direction on Pleasant Street while work is underway. A marked detour will be in place. Motorists are asked to expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Old Sambro Road
Location: Old Sambro Road, from Dunbrack Street to Dentith Road
Date: Monday, Sept. 15 until Friday, Sept. 19
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day

Traffic Delay – Hollis Street
Location: Hollis Street, between Prince and Sackville streets
Date: Tuesday, Sept. 16
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate the safe operation of equipment servicing 1645 Granville Street.
Traffic impact: One lane of traffic will be maintained, with a lane reduction in place along the east side of the work area. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Active transportation impact: The east sidewalk and bike lane within this area will be closed during this work. A marked pedestrian detour will be in place.

Upcoming traffic disruptions in support of the Brunswick Street Complete Streets project
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic disruptions along Brunswick Street, between Cogswell Street and Spring Garden Road, and along Sackville Street, between Market and Queen streets.
This work is needed to facilitate construction in support of the Brunswick Street Complete Streets project, which is expected to be substantially completed in December 2025, with any remaining work to be completed during the 2026 construction season.
Work details: These traffic impacts are needed to install infrastructure that will improve the area for all road users, including people driving, walking, cycling and rolling. Improvements include:
A new landscaped public space at the foot of Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, creating a more welcoming gateway to downtown.
Repaving of road surfaces throughout the project area.
Upgrades to sidewalks and crosswalks to improve accessibility and safety.
A protected two-way bike lane on the west side of Brunswick Street.
Traffic impacts: As part of this project, the following traffic impacts are expected:
Ongoing – Aug. 11 to Sept. 8 – Intersection Closure - Brunswick and Sackville streets
Late August – Intermittent traffic delays and pedestrian impacts at the intersection of Brunswick Street and Spring Garden Road for crosswalk safety improvements.
Fall 2025 – Rolling nighttime closures on Brunswick Street for repaving work.
Access to businesses and residential properties will be maintained during this project.
Residents should expect traffic delays within the project area throughout the duration of the project.
More specific timing and details about each of these impacts will be shared as work progresses.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court
Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required
Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.
Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.
Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.
Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.
Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.
Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:
Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area
Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure
The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use
Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Road Closure – Isleville Street
Location: Isleville Street, between Bloomfield and Young streets
Date: Wednesday, Aug. 20 to Wednesday, Nov. 12 (weekdays only)
Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate street upgrades in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: There will be rolling road closures in this area, with local and emergency access maintained while this work is underway. Marked detours will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway
Location: Bedford Highway, from Flamingo Drive to Kearney Lake Road
Date: Sunday, August 24 to Friday, October 3
Time: 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. each night, with work beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday evenings.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
