Police responded to stolen vehicles in Dartmouth, suspect arrested

On September 4th at approximately 5:10 a.m., officers responded to a theft of motor vehicle from Sobey’s located at 551 Portland St in Dartmouth. The caller reported someone stole his truck within the last 15 mins.

Officers observed the stolen vehicle throughout Dartmouth during which time it actively fled from police at a high rate of speed. Although officers maintained visual continuity of the vehicle, they did not pursue due to the erratic driving behavior and disregard for public safety.

The driver eventually stopped and fled from the vehicle on foot during which time the officers were able to arrest him without incident.

The suspect, Kirtland Thomas Colley involved in the theft/flight from police appeared in court on the 4th to face charges of:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Breach of probation
  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000.00
  • Motor vehicle theft
