Pictou County District RCMP investigates fatal collision in Pine Tree
Pictou County District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Pine Tree.
On September 6, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Pictou County District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 4 between Woodburn Road and Old Pine Tree Road.
RCMP Officers learned that a Nissan Rogue left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, from New Glasgow was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers, A 16-year-old man, from Pictou County and a 19-year-old woman, from New Glasgow, were both transported to hospital with serious injuries.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene; the investigation is ongoing.
The highway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Digby RCMP has charged a man with drug trafficking and related offences.
On September 4, at approximately 8:30p.m., a Digby RCMP officer was on patrol in Digby when he observed a suspicious hand-to-hand transaction between two men on Sydney St. The officer continued to observe one of the men as he walked away from the other. The officer then safely arrested the man a short distance away. Officers searched the man incidental to arrest, seizing a quantity of bulk and individually wrapped cocaine, a quantity of cash, and mobile phones.
Jason Percy Noel Fletcher, 30, of Spryfield, has been charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
Fletcher appeared in Digby Provincial Court on September 5 and was released by the court on conditions pending his next court appearance.
