The new size estimate based on more precise measurement is 8468 hectares. No new reports of damage. Crews made good ground over the weekend. Dozer guard and lines of hose/pumps are complete along the northern end of the fire, tying in that section. The south end of the fire is the most active and facing drying conditions this week. Ten contract helicopters are in action, along with four planes and a bird dog. Firefighters on site include four Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 61 Ontario, 40 Quebec, and 45 local, along with about 50 pieces of heavy machinery. - Do not operate drones in a wildfire area. It is illegal. It can interfere with our firefighting efforts. Aircraft are using a very large airspace around the Long Lake wildfires complex. It is not safe to use a drone anywhere in the broader area. The fine is $25,000 under the Forests Act, there could be fines under federal legislation as well.
