**** Via NS Gov LONG LAKE WILDFIRES COMPLEX, ANNAPOLIS COUNTY, AUGUST 29 The Long Lake wildfires complex is still out of control and estimated at 8,234 hectares. No new reports of damage. Work continues to prevent spread toward communities with 11 helicopters, six planes, 70+ pieces of heavy equipment and 16 Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 60 Ontario and 66 local firefighters. The estimated size of the fire will continue to fluctuate due to growth, more precise measurement, or both. Even when a wildfire grows, it is possible for the estimated size to decrease because a more precise measurement of the perimeter.
