RCMP investigating fatal collision in Lawrencetown
RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Lawrencetown.
On August 16, at approximately 6:45 p.m., RCMP officers, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a motorcycle in the ditch on Lawrencetown Rd. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a motorcycle and a Volkswagen Atlas collided.
The driver and sole occupant of the motorcycle was a 19-year-old man from Lucasville. He was transported to hospital by EHS, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver, and sole occupant of the Volkswagen, from Fall River, did not report any physical injuries.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene; the investigation is ongoing.
Lawrencetown Rd. was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating a single- vehicle crash in Waverley.
On August 17, at approximately 5:26 p.m., RCMP officers, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree in the 1400 block of Waverley Rd. Officers learned that the driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai Sonata was trapped, and that the vehicle had caught on fire. Due to the swift actions of an off-duty Halifax Regional Police officer and bystanders, the driver was safely pulled out of the Hyundai before it exploded.
The driver, a 25-year-old man from Dartmouth, was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries.
Waverley Rd. was closed in both directions but has since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing.
