This morning’s calm winds and higher humidity are keeping wildfire smoke low to the ground, causing poor air quality across our region
To reduce your risk:
• Limit time outdoors and avoid strenuous activity.
• Watch for symptoms like throat irritation, coughing, or headaches, and seek medical attention if breathing becomes difficult.
At home:
• Keep windows and doors closed.
• Turn off air exchangers or ventilation systems that bring in outside air.
• Heat pumps are fine to use.
• Run a HEPA or other certified air purifier if you have one.
If you must be outside, consider wearing a properly fitted N95 or equivalent mask. Check on vulnerable friends, family, and neighbours.
