Police arrest man breaking into vehicles

On August 9 at approximately 2:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of car windows being smashed in a parking lot on Quingate Place in Halifax.

Upon arrival officers found seven cars with the front passenger window smashed and located a suspect in the bushes near the parking lot.

The suspect was arrested at the scene.

Andrew Ryan Bowie, 40, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a future date to face charges of:

  • Mischief (x7)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Theft Under $5000

Colchester County District RCMP investigates collision between motorcycle and farm vehicle

Colchester County District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Princeport.

On August 7 at approximately 4:45 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Princeport Rd. where a westbound motorcycle and eastbound tractor towing a trailer collided at a hill.

The motorcycle driver, a 38-year-old man from Upper North River, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The tractor driver was transported to hospital by EHS for assessment. There were no passengers with either vehicle.

Princeport Rd. was closed for several hours but has since reopened. An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the location of the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

Inverness County District RCMP investigates fatal crash on Cabot Trail

Inverness County District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

On August 10, at approximately 11:15 a.m., Inverness County District RCMP, fire, EHS and Parks Canada responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on the Cabot Trail at North Mountain.

Responders located a motorcycle that had hit the guardrail. The motorcycle rider, a 21-year-old man from Victoria County, was transported to hospital by EHS and pronounced deceased.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the location of the crash; the investigation is ongoing.

A section of the Cabot Trail on North Mountain was closed for several hours and has since reopened.
