Traffic Delay – Herring Cove Road
Location: Herring Cove Road, between Old Sambro and Williams Lake roads
Date: Thursday, August 7
Time: 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Work details: This work includes quality assurance in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Lane drops while maintaining two lanes will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Intersection Closure - Brunswick and Sackville streets
Location: Intersection of Brunswick and Sackville streets
Date: Monday, Aug. 11 to Monday, Sept. 8
Time: 24/7
Work details: This work supports infrastructure improvements as part of the Brunswick Street AAA Bikeway Complete Streets project.
Traffic impact: The intersection of Brunswick and Sackville streets will be closed to all traffic. Marked detours will be in place during this work. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Pedestrian impacts: Pedestrian access will be maintained

Traffic Delay – Rocky Lake Drive
Location: Rocky Lake Drive, from Quarrystone Drive to 2071 Rocky Lake Drive
Date: Wednesday, Aug. 6 to Thursday, Aug. 7
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Intersection of Gottingen and Russell street
Date: Wednesday, Aug. 6
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: Decommissioning of natural gas service.
Traffic impact: Lane closures and stop-and-go traffic control will be in place during work. Motorists should expect delay and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.

Traffic Delay – St. Margarets Bay Road
Location: Intersection of St. Margarets Bay Road and Oliver Street
Date: Tuesday, August 5
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work includes asphalt repair, in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible

Road Closure – Bluewater Road
Location: Bluewater Road, between Larry Uteck Boulevard and Hammonds Plains Road
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 5 to Wednesday, Aug. 6
Time: 7 a.m. on Aug. 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 6
Work Details: This is needed for underground utility work.
Traffic Impact: Detours will be in place for vehicles. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Transit Impact: Inbound 433 will be detoured via Larry Uteck Boulevard and outbound 433 will be detoured via Hammonds Plains Road. All bus stops along Bluewater Road will be temporarily closed during this work.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court
Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required
Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.
Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.
Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.
Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.
Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.
Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:
Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area
Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure
The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use
Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project area
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Joseph Howe Drive and Alma Crescent
Dates: Tuesday, July 29 to Friday, Aug. 22
Time: 24/7
Work details: This work is part of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impacts: Access to nearby businesses and properties is being maintained throughout this project.
The following traffic impacts are in place to help crews complete the current phase of work efficiently and reduce the overall construction timeline.
Dutch Village Road is open to northbound traffic from the intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Bayers Road; and closed to southbound traffic between Supreme Court and the intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Bayers Road.
Following substantial progress at the Westerwald Street intersection, access through the intersection of Westerwald Street and Dutch Village Road will be restored on the evening of Tuesday, July 29.
To support ongoing intersection improvements for this phase of the project, the following intersections on the west side of Dutch Village Road will remain closed until Friday, Aug. 22:
Sunnybrae Avenue
Central Avenue
Rosedale Avenue
Frederick Avenue
Rufus Avenue
Local access to these streets is provided via Alex Street and Main Avenue.

Work details: This work is to facilitate street recapitalization as part the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impacts: The following traffic impacts will be in place to help crews complete the work more efficiently and reduce the overall construction timeline.
Dutch Village Road will be closed to southbound traffic between Supreme Court and Bayers Road. Traffic will still be able to turn onto Dutch Village Road from Joseph Howe Drive and travel northbound.
To support intersection improvements, the intersections on the west side of Dutch Village Road will be closed between Supreme Court and Bayers Road. The closures already in effect on Westerwald Street, Sunnybrae and Central avenues will continue, and new closures will be in effect on Rosedale, Frederick and Rufus avenues. Local access to these streets will be provided via Alex Street.
Detour signage will be in place and personnel will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.
Pedestrian impacts: Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Transit impacts: Inbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alex Street, Main Avenue and Titus Street to Dutch Village Road. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:

Intersection Closure – Upper Water and Cogswell streets
Location: Intersection of Cogswell and Upper Water streets
Date: Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10
Times: Starting at 7 a.m. on August 9 and reopening by 7 p.m. on August 10
Work details: This closure is required to install the permanent traffic poles at this intersection. This work is in support of the Cogswell District project.
Traffic impact: Detours will be in place and personnel will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.
Pedestrian and cyclist impact: Pedestrian and cyclists will be directed around the work site by traffic control.

Traffic Advisory – Halifax Regional Municipality

The westbound lanes of Highway 101 will be reduced to one lane for repairs to the bridge at Highway 102 in Bedford.
Work takes place from Thursday, May 8, until Friday, July 18.
Work takes place daily from sunrise to sunset. Motorists should expect delays.

There will be two closures on Highway 107 in Lower Sackville starting Tuesday, August 5: - the northbound on-ramp to Highway 102 at Exit 4C - the southbound on-ramp at the new Highway 102 overpass
Traffic will be detoured to the Exit 4C roundabouts: - Highway 102 northbound traffic will exit at the first roundabout - Highway 102 southbound traffic and traffic heading toward Halifax or the Annapolis Valley will proceed to the second roundaboutThe detour will be in place for about six weeks.
