Traffic Delay – Glen Manor Drive

Location: Glen Manor Drive, from Crichton Avenue to Mic Mac Boulevard

Date: Friday, July 18

Time: 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Work details: This work includes quality assurance in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane Drop will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Road closure – Leaman Drive

Location: Leaman Drive, between Monique Avenue and Crystal Drive

Date: Monday, July 21 to Wednesday, July 23

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is required for underground utility connections for nearby development.

Traffic impact: A marked detour will be in place to guide motorists through the work area. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Pedestrian Impact: The sidewalk along Leaman Drive will be closed. Pedestrians are asked to use existing sidewalks on Monique Avenue, Farthington Place and Crystal Drive to move around the work area.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Joseph Howe and Abbott drives

Location: Intersection of Joseph Howe and Abbott drives

Date: Wednesday, July 16 to Friday, July 18

Time: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. (overnight work)

Work details: This is to facilitate natural gas pipeline restoration work.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained, with lane reductions and an altered centreline in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Barrington Street, between Nora Bernard and North streets

Date: Wednesday, July 16

Time: 11 a.m. to noon

Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: There will be lane reductions in place, with two-way traffic maintained during this work. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Fenwood Road to Albert Walker Drive

Date: Tuesday, July 15

Work details: This work is for road repairs. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Alderney Drive, between Ochterloney and Portland streets

Date: Tuesday, July 15

Location: Mount Hope Avenue near Acadia Street

Date: Tuesday, July 15

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate roadway drainage improvements in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic in place during this work. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Crystal Drive

Location: Crystal Drive, between Leaman Drive and Primrose Street

Date: Monday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 15

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is required for underground utility connections for nearby development.

Traffic impact: A full street closure will be in effect, and the street will remain closed overnight. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible. A marked detour will be in place.

Pedestrian Impact: Sidewalk along the north side will be closed. Pedestrians are asked to use existing crosswalks to navigate around the project site.

Transit impact: Route 53 with be in detour during this closure. The following stops will be closed:

  • Leaman Drive Before Ambercrest Place (2251)
  • Leaman Drive After Ambercrest Place (7126)

Location: Highway 2, between Fall River Road and 2946 Highway 2

Date: Monday, July 14

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road

Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court

Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required

Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.

Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.

Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.

Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.

Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.

Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:

Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area

Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure

The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use

Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road area

Location: Dutch Village Road, between Joseph Howe Drive and Alma Crescent

Dates: Tuesday, July 1 to Friday, Aug. 22

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is to facilitate street recapitalization as part the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.

Traffic impacts: The following traffic impacts will be in place to help crews complete the work more efficiently and reduce the overall construction timeline.

Dutch Village Road will be closed to southbound traffic between Supreme Court and Bayers Road. Traffic will still be able to turn onto Dutch Village Road from Joseph Howe Drive and travel northbound.

To support intersection improvements, the intersections on the west side of Dutch Village Road will be closed between Supreme Court and Bayers Road. The closures already in effect on Westerwald Street, Sunnybrae and Central avenues will continue, and new closures will be in effect on Rosedale, Frederick and Rufus avenues. Local access to these streets will be provided via Alex Street.

Detour signage will be in place and personnel will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Pedestrian impacts: Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Transit impacts: Inbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alex Street, Main Avenue and Titus Street to Dutch Village Road. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:

Rosedale Avenue at civic 34 (8242)

Rosedale Avenue before Dutch Village Road (8243)

Dutch Village Road before Andrew Street (6609)

Dutch Village Road before Sunnybrae Avenue (6638)

Joseph Howe Drive before Scot Street (6986) (only for route 28)

Outbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alma Crescent, Main Avenue and Alex Street to Rosedale Avenue. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:

Dutch Village Road before Rufus Avenue (6614)

Dutch Village Road before Rosedale Avenue (6613)

Rosedale Avenue after Dutch Village Road (8245)
