Traffic Delay – St. Margaret’s Bay Road
Location: St. Margaret’s Bay Road, from Oliver Street to Beechville Park Drive
Date: Friday, July 4
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work includes asphalt repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway
Location: Bedford Highway, Flamingo Drive to Kearney Lake Road
Date: Thursday, July 3
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: An altered centreline will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Purcells Cove Road, from Fergusons Cove Road to Hebridean Drive
Date: Tuesday, July 1 until Friday, July 4
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of St. Margarets Bay Road and Oliver Street
Location: Intersection of St. Margarets Bay Road and Oliver Street

Street Closure – Clifton Street
Location: Clifton Street, between St Albans and North streets
Date: Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4
Time: 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, until 6 p.m. on Friday, July 4.
Work details: This work is related to a nearby development and underground service connections.
Traffic impact: Local traffic from St Albans will be maintained, and a marked detour will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible. A temporary walkway on the south side of Clifton Street will also be in place during the street closure.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court
Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required
Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.
Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.
Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.
Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.
Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.
Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:
Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area
Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure
The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use
Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road area
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Joseph Howe Drive and Alma Crescent
Dates: Tuesday, July 1 to Friday, Aug. 22
Time: 24/7
Work details: This work is to facilitate street recapitalization as part the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impacts: The following traffic impacts will be in place to help crews complete the work more efficiently and reduce the overall construction timeline.
Dutch Village Road will be closed to southbound traffic between Supreme Court and Bayers Road. Traffic will still be able to turn onto Dutch Village Road from Joseph Howe Drive and travel northbound.
To support intersection improvements, the intersections on the west side of Dutch Village Road will be closed between Supreme Court and Bayers Road. The closures already in effect on Westerwald Street, Sunnybrae and Central avenues will continue, and new closures will be in effect on Rosedale, Frederick and Rufus avenues. Local access to these streets will be provided via Alex Street.
Detour signage will be in place and personnel will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.
Pedestrian impacts: Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Transit impacts: Inbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alex Street, Main Avenue and Titus Street to Dutch Village Road. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:
Rosedale Avenue at civic 34 (8242)
Rosedale Avenue before Dutch Village Road (8243)
Dutch Village Road before Andrew Street (6609)
Dutch Village Road before Sunnybrae Avenue (6638)
Joseph Howe Drive before Scot Street (6986) (only for route 28)
Outbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alma Crescent, Main Avenue and Alex Street to Rosedale Avenue. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:

Dutch Village Road before Rufus Avenue (6614)
Dutch Village Road before Rosedale Avenue (6613)

Intersection Closure – Cogswell Street and Upper Water Street
Location: Intersection of Cogswell Street and Upper Water Street
Date: Saturday, July 5 to Monday, July 7
Times: 24/7, starting at 5 a.m. on Saturday and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday
Work details: This work is to re-grade and re-pave the intersection to align with the final design of Upper Water Street. This work is in support of the Cogswell District project.
Traffic impact: Vehicles will detour via Reconciliation Street. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Road Closure – South Park Street
Location: South Park Street, between Inglis and Rhuland streets
Date: Wednesday, July 2 to Saturday, July 5, and Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11
Time: 24/7
Work details: This is to facilitate underground utility connections.
Traffic impact: South Park Street will be closed to all traffic between Inglis and Rhuland streets during this work. Marked detours will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Pedestrian and cycling impact: Sidewalks and bikeway infrastructure will be closed during this work. A marked detour will be in place for pedestrians and cyclists via Lucknow Street.
Transit impact: Inbound routes 4, 10A, 10B and 24 will be detoured via South Street. The following inbound bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:
8315 (South Park Street after Fenwick Street); and
8310 (South Park Street before Inglis Street).
Outbound routes 4, 10A, 10B and 24 will be detoured via Wellington and South streets. The following outbound bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:
8306 (South Park Street after Fenwick Street);
8314 (South Park Street before Victoria Road); and
6969 (Inglis Street before Tower Road).

Traffic Advisory – Halifax Regional Municipality

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bedford Bypass
The westbound lanes of Highway 101 will be reduced to one lane for repairs to the bridge at Highway 102 in Bedford.
Work takes place from Thursday, May 8, until Friday, July 18.
Work takes place daily from sunrise to sunset. Motorists should expect delays.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bedford Bypass
Repairs to the Highway 101/Highway 102 bridge structure in Bedford will cause additional lane restrictions the next three nights.
The following restrictions will be in place from 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting tonight, May 14:
- Highway 102 southbound (inbound) will be down to one lane
- the Highway 101 westbound to Highway 102 southbound ramp will be closed, and there will be a detour in place.
Since last week, Highway 101 westbound at the structure has been reduced to one lane. Work takes place daily from sunrise to sunset, and motorists can expect delays.
The repairs are expected to be complete by Friday, July 18.

The Highway 104 westbound overpass will be reduced to one lane for repairs until Friday, October 31.
Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., but the lane is closed 24 hours a day. Signs are in place, and motorists should expect delays.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Lower Portapique Bridge, Portapique
Lower Portapique Bridge on Trunk 2 is closed for repairs until further notice.
The detours are East Montrose Road and West Montrose Road.

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice because of a bridge closure.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Route 311, North River
Route 311 from Farnham Mill Road to Mountain Lee Road will be reduced to one lane for bridge work until Friday, October 31.
Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.
