Traffic Delay – Oxford Street
Location: Oxford Street, between Quinpool Road and Pepperell Street
Date: Thursday, June 5
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m.
Work details: This is required for emergency gas service installation to restore heat and hot water services.
Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The southbound direction on Oxford Street, between Quinpool Road and Pepperell Street, will be closed between 6 and 10 p.m. Detours will be in place for vehicles. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.
Transit impact: Bus stop (7412) between Oxford Street after Quinpool Rd will be closed from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Passengers will be directed to use Bus stop (2308) at Oxford Street before Jubilee Road. Street Closure – Hollis Street
Location: Hollis Street, between Salter and Bishop streets
Date: Saturday, June 7
Time: 7 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Work details: This is required for a crane lift for building maintenance.
Traffic impact: Hollis Street will be closed to vehicles and bicycles between Salter and Bishop streets. A marked detour will be in place to direct traffic around the closure. The sidewalk will remain open on one side of the street with traffic control personnel in place to assist pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Sackville Drive
Location: Sackville Drive, from Fenerty Road to Maxwell Avenue
Date: Wednesday, June 4
Time: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is for road repairs. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Waverley Road and Montebello Drive
Location: Waverley Road and Montebello Drive adjacent to 2 Montebello Drive
Date: Wednesday, June 4
Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate line painting.
Traffic impact: Traffic will be stop-and-go while work is underway. The traffic lights at the Waverley Road and Montebello Drive intersection will be turned off with vehicles being directed by traffic control personnel while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Chebucto Road
Location: Chebucto Road, from Windsor to North streets
Date: Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Work details: This work is for road repairs. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: There will be a one-way closure for eastbound traffic between Windsor to North streets. Detour signs will be in place for vehicles. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes wherever possible.

Traffic Delay – Joseph Howe Drive
Location: Intersection of Joseph Howe Drive with Dutch Village Road and Bayers Road
Dates: Tuesday, June 3 to Thursday, June 5
Time: 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., nightly
Work details: This is to facilitate work on the traffic signals in support of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impacts: Southbound lanes at the intersection of Dutch Village Road and Joseph Howe Drive will be reduced. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.
The sidewalk will also be closed and signage will guide pedestrians around the work area using the other side of the street.

Road Closure – Brookside Avenue
Location: Brookside Avenue, between 2 Brookside Avenue and 176 Windmill Road
Dates: Wednesday, June 11, to Friday, June 13
Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Work details: This closure is to facilitate the safe trenching and maneuvering of equipment at a new development
Traffic impact: A detour will be in place for vehicles. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.
Pedestrian impact: The sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians alongside the work area. Signage will be in place to guide pedestrians around the work area.

Traffic Delay – North Street
Location: North Street, between Gottingen and Creighton street
Date: Saturday, June 14
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is needed for water service maintenance.
Traffic impact: An altered centreline will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.
Pedestrian impact: The sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians alongside the work area. Signage will be in place to guide pedestrians around the work area.

Intersection of Bedford Highway and Bayview Road
Location: Intersection of Bedford Highway and Bayview Road
Date: Sunday, June 1
Time: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Lane drops and an altered centre will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Beaver Bank Road and Windgate Drive
Location: Intersection of Beaver Bank Road and Windgate Drive
Date: Monday, June 2
Time: 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Traffic Delay – Akerley Boulevard and Burnside Drive roundabout
Location: Akerley Boulevard and Burnside Drive roundabout
Date: Monday, June 2 until Tuesday, June 10
Time: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Work details: Reinstatement and landscaping work associated with construction of the roundabout.
Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place and two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Spring Garden Road
Location: Spring Garden Road, between South Park Street and Dresden Row
Date: Monday, June 9, Tuesday June 10, Thursday, June 12 and Friday, June 13
Time: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily
Work details: This work is required for the safe lifting of construction materials into the construction site at the Nelson building on Spring Garden Road.
Traffic impact: The westbound lane will be closed. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.
Pedestrian Impact: The sidewalk will be closed along the area where the work is taking place. Pedestrians are asked to use alternative crosswalks to navigate around the project site.
Transit impact: The following stops will be closed:
Spring Garden Road Before South Park Street (8334)
Spring Garden Road Before Dresden Row (8330)
South Park Street Before University Avenue (8313)
Passengers using stops 8334 and 8330 are requested to proceed to Spring Garden Road Before Queen Street (8331). Passengers using the stop 8313 are requested to proceed to South Park Street Before South Street (8311)

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court
Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required
Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.
Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.
Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.
Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.
Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.
Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:
Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area
Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure
The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use
Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Traffic Delay – Waverly Road
Location: Waverly Road, at the intersection with Mountbatten Avenue
Date: Monday, May 26 to Tuesday July 15
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, weekdays only.
Work details: This is required for retrofitting of a pressure relief valve chamber.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible. A temporary crosswalk will be installed at the corner of Waverly Road and Mountbatten Avenue, and a temporary sidewalk with jersey barriers will be in place to maintain pedestrian access.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of St Margarets Bay Road and Timberlea Village Parkway
Location: Intersection of St Margarets Bay Road and Timberlea Village Parkway
Date: Tuesday, May 20 to Friday, June 13
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work includes asphalt repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Traffic personnel will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. Drivers should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delays - Robie Street, Bell Road and Jubilee Road
Location: Robie Street, Bell Road and Jubilee Road
Date: Monday, May 12 to Monday, June 9
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is to reinstate the previously damaged road infrastructure during previous construction activities in support of the development at the QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project.
Traffic impact: Lane reduction is expected on Robie Street and Bell Road. Lane closure is also expected on Jubilee Road at some point during this work. Traffic control signs will direct vehicles through this construction zone. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.Pedestrian impact: Pedestrian wayfinding signage will be in place. Pedestrians are asked to use alternative crosswalks to navigate around any construction site.

Lane Closure – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road between Westerwald Street and Joseph Howe Drive
Dates: Monday, May 12 to Friday, June 6
Time: 24/7
Work details: This work is to facilitate pipework as well as street recapitalization as part the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impacts: Westbound traffic will still be able to turn onto Dutch Village Road from Joseph Howe Drive.
Local access will be maintained, detour signage will be in place and personnel will be on-site to help direct traffic.
Transit impacts: Route 28 and 137 will be detoured causing the following bus stops to be temporarily closed:
