Annapolis District RCMP investigate fatal crash
Annapolis District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Hwy. 8 in Maitland Bridge. On June 23, at approximately 12:01 a.m., Annapolis District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy. 8. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a Green Pontiac Pursuit was travelling on the highway when it left the roadway, hit a power pole and came to rest on its side in the ditch. The driver and sole occupant of the Pontiac, a 40-year-old Italy Cross man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation remains ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
Hwy. 8 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
