When the weather is warm, it’s best to leave your four-legged friend at home. If you can’t, use the drive-through, curbside pickup, or visit pet-friendly businesses to avoid a potentially tragic outcome. If you encounter an animal in a vehicle that appears to be in distress (exaggerated panting; anxious or staring expression; muscle tremors; lack of coordination; red or blue tongue and lips; convulsions; vomiting; or collapse), call 911 and stay with the animal until officers arrive. If you’re unsure if an animal is in distress, call the Nova Scotia SPCA - Enforcement at 1-888-703-7722 and speak with the call-taker.
