How radars work
On October 31, the new Marble Mountain radar in Newfoundland was up and running. The new radar will provide more frequent and higher-quality data and improve our ability to detect severe weather. But how exactly do radars work? Radio Detection and Ranging, commonly referred to as RADAR, is a tool that provides data that can be quite beneficial when making weather-sensitive decisions. Canada has a network of radar concentrated in the most populated parts of Canada, providing radar coverage to more than 95 percent of Canadians.
