Police charge woman for stunting

Police have charged a woman with driving in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit in Dartmouth this morning.

At approximately 7:05 a.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 111 in the area of the Main Street ramp. The officer observed the vehicle’s speed in excess of 144 km/h in a 80 km/h zone.

A 24-year-old woman was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In addition, the woman was suspended from driving for seven days and the vehicle she was driving was seized and impounded.

The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
