20 ADDITIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS. THE NEED REMAINS

Yesterday, Halifax Regional Council referred Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi’s request for 20 additional career fire fighters to Budget Committee for consideration during the upcoming budget deliberations.

We recognize that decisions involving municipal resources require careful consideration and must be balanced against the many priorities facing our growing municipality.

As the representatives of Halifax’s professional fire fighters, we remain supportive of Chief Rizzi’s request and believe these additional positions represent an important step toward strengthening emergency response capabilities across our communities.

Our members respond to an increasingly complex range of emergencies every day. As Halifax continues to grow, ensuring our fire service has the resources necessary to meet those demands remains a priority.

We look forward to continued discussions with Regional Council, the Fire Chief, and municipal leadership as the budget process moves forward.

Response times matter. Fire fighters in fire stations on fire trucks matter.
