Update:  Snowfall warning in effect via Environment Canada

Heavy snowfall will continue through this evening. Total snowfall amounts: 15 to 25 cm. Location: Halifax Metro and Halifax County West. Time span: ending mid evening. Remarks: Snow has begun to rapidly accumulate in some areas of Halifax County late this afternoon. Heavy snowfall will continue through the evening commute into the mid part of the evening, with total accumulations of up to 25 cm expected in inland areas which see the heaviest snowfall rates. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected. Total snowfall: 10 to 15 cm, likely higher in some areas of heaviest snow bands. Locations: Annapolis, Kings, Queens, and Lunenburg and Halifax counties. Time span: Beginning Friday morning and ending Friday evening. Remarks: Periods of snow, at times heavy, are expected across parts of Nova Scotia on Friday as a small but potentially vigorous weather system develops and passes just off the Atlantic coast. Given the nature of this system, details as to where the highest snowfall amounts will occur could still be subject to change, and as such this statement may need to be extended to additional regions or upgraded to a snowfall warning for some areas.
