CF-18 Flyby, The SkyHawks, and Artillery Salute at 12 Wing Shearwater
On Saturday, August 15, 2026, in support of the 9th annual Highway for Heroes Nova Scotia Tribute Ride, 12 Wing Shearwater will host the SkyHawks, an artillery salute, and a CF-18 flyby.
At 11 a.m. August 15th the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, the SkyHawks, will parachute onto the 12 Wing Shearwater sports field. Members of the public are invited to witness the free performance in honour of both our Canadian veterans and those still serving. The public may arrive anytime after 9 a.m. to attend the Highway of Heroes Nova Scotia Tribute Ride kick-off in advance of the SkyHawks performance. Parking will be available at the Shearwater Fitness & Sports Centre and Shearwater Arena (30 and 66 Boundary Rd).
At approximately noon, two Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornets from 3 Wing Bagotville will be conducting a flyby over 12 Wing Shearwater.
At approximately 1:00 p.m. 36 Canadian Brigade Group will be conducting an artillery salute. Personnel from the 1st Field Artillery Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery will fire one ceremonial blank artillery round; no live ammunition will be used. Members of the community may hear a single loud noise.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. in Truro there will be a second flyby of the CF-18s over the Rath Eastlink community centre, marking the end of the ride. Flypasts conducted by Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft are carefully planned and closely controlled for public safety and are dependent upon weather and operational requirements.
