Traffic Delay – Cow Bay Road
Location: Cow Bay Road, from civic 625 to Dyke Road
Date: Thursday, Aug. 13
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be set up at different points throughout the day. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Bayers Road and Connaught Avenue
Location: Intersection of Bayers Road and Connaught Avenue
Date and time: From 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13 to 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14
Work details: This is to facilitate underground infrastructure preparation work in support of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor Phase 2 project.
Traffic impact: From 6 to 9 p.m., lane reductions will be in place with two-way traffic maintained. From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., stop-and-go traffic will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Intersection of Main Avenue and Borden Street
Date: Wednesday, Aug. 12
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic in place during this work. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Woodlawn Road
Location: Woodlawn Road, between Mount Edward and Valleyfield roads
Date: Wednesday, Aug. 12
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained with lane reductions in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Street Closure – Connolly Street
Locations: Connolly Street, between Roslyn Street and Bayers Road, and between Bayers Road and Young Street
Date: Wednesday, Aug. 12
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate underground infrastructure work in support of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor Phase 2 project.
Traffic impact: These sections of Connolly Street will be closed while work is underway. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
The closure does not affect traffic travelling on Bayers Road. The intersection of Bayers Road and Connolly Street will remain open to vehicles on Bayers Road.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Portland Street and Spring Avenue
Location: Intersection of Portland Street and Spring Avenue
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 11 to Thursday, Oct. 1 (weekdays)
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic with an altered centreline in place during this work. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: Traffic control personnel will be present to direct people walking or rolling.

Traffic disruptions in support of the Hammonds Plains Road trail overpass repair project
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic disruptions on Hammonds Plains Road, between Fox Hollow Drive and St. Margarets Bay Road.
These disruptions are required to facilitate the Hammonds Plains Road trail overpass repair project, which is expected to begin in mid-August 2026 and continue until late fall 2026.
Work details: This project includes repairs to the concrete abutments supporting the St. Margarets Bay Area Trail overpass over Hammonds Plains Road to maintain the safety and long-term condition of the structure.
Additional minor work, such as replacing wooden railings on the overpass approaches, will also be completed.
Traffic impacts: Traffic impacts are expected throughout the duration of the project and may include:
- Two-way traffic: Two-way traffic will be maintained for much of the project, with an altered centreline in place. This is expected to be the default traffic condition during this project.
- Stop-and-go traffic: Some stages of work may require short-term lane closures with stop-and-go traffic in the project area. This may be required for site setup, when work transitions from one side of the structure to the other, and at other limited times as construction activities dictate.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Active transportation impacts: Access for people walking or rolling along Hammonds Plains Road will be maintained throughout construction. Trail access across the overpass will remain open for the duration of the project.

Traffic Delay – Cowie Hill Road
Location: Cowie Hill Road, from Dunbrack Street to Darjeeling Drive
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 11 to Friday, Aug. 14
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Lane drops and stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Lane Closures – Highway 111 and MacKay Bridge ramps
Location: Highway 111, from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street toward the Windsor Street Exchange
Date and time: 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13 to 5 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14
Work details: These overnight lane closures are required to facilitate the removal of an overhead highway sign as part of the Windsor Street Exchange project. The work will support the future construction of a new ramp connection and traffic improvements in the Windsor Street Exchange area.
Traffic impact: The Highway 111 ramps from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street toward the Windsor Street Exchange and Massachusetts Avenue will be closed. Drivers travelling from Dartmouth to Halifax on the MacKay Bridge will be detoured onto Barrington Street and will not be able to access Highway 111 toward the Windsor Street Exchange. Detour signage and traffic control personnel will be in place.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
The MacKay Bridge will remain open to two-way traffic with lane reductions in place. Access toward Dartmouth via the MacKay Bridge from the Windsor Street Exchange, Massachusetts Avenue and Barrington Street will not be affected.
The municipality has coordinated this work with Halifax Harbour Bridges, a division of Link Nova Scotia, to reduce traffic impacts and to make use of these planned lane closures to complete maintenance and infrastructure work.

Traffic disruptions in support of Main Street repaving and maintenance work
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic delays on Main Street, between Forest Hills Parkway and Hillsboro Drive.
These traffic delays are required to facilitate road maintenance and infrastructure work in this area, which will begin during the week of Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, and are anticipated to be completed in early September 2026.
Times: During the first one to two weeks, work will take place on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Following the completion of planned weekday work, crews will shift to weeknight work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and weekend work from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the remainder of the project.
Work details: This project includes coordinated road maintenance and infrastructure improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility and long-term road conditions, including:
- Spot repairs and replacements of concrete curbs
- Adjustments to manholes and water valves in the street
- Milling (removing) the top layer of worn asphalt
- Repaving with new asphalt
- Repainting pavement markings and crosswalks
- Minor landscaping and driveway connections
This work aligns with the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Traffic impacts are expected throughout the duration of the project and may include the following:
- Weekday impacts: From 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. (peak traffic times), two-way traffic will be maintained with lane reductions in place. Outside of peak traffic times, there will be a mix of two-way and stop-and-go traffic. These are expected to be the standard daytime traffic impacts during this project.
- Weeknight and weekend impacts: A mix of two-way and stop-and-go traffic will be maintained to minimize disruption and avoid full road closures. These are expected to be the standard overnight and weekend traffic impacts during this project.
Local, business, and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: Sidewalks are expected to remain open throughout this project.
Transit impact: Transit stops in this area will be closed during this work. Visit our website for up-to-date impacts to Halifax Transit routes and bus stops.
Active transportation impact: Bike lanes in this area will be temporarily closed during parts of the project. Cyclists will be directed onto the street around this work.

Road Closure – Main Avenue
Location: Main Avenue, between Alex and Birch streets
Date: Sunday, August 9, until Monday, August 10
Time: 1 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday (overnight)
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: This section of road will be closed while work is underway. Marked detours will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: The south sidewalk will be closed while work is underway. The other sidewalk will remain open for pedestrian access.

Road Closure – Kearney Lake Road
