Traffic disruptions in support of Sackville Drive repaving and maintenance work
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic delays on Sackville Drive, between Beaver Bank Road and Florence Street.
These traffic delays are required to facilitate road maintenance and infrastructure work as part of the Sackville Drive repaving and maintenance project. Work is expected to begin in the coming weeks and is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026.
Time: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for weekday work and 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. for weeknight work
Work details: This project includes coordinated road maintenance and infrastructure improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility and long-term road conditions, including:
- Repairs and replacements of concrete sidewalks, curbs and driveway connections
- Concrete repairs and maintenance at transit stops
- Adjustments to manholes and water valves in the street
- Milling (removing) the top layer of worn asphalt
- Spot repairs to the asphalt base layer
- Repaving with new asphalt
- Repainting pavement markings and crosswalks
- Landscaping
This work aligns with the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Traffic impacts are expected throughout the duration of the project and may include the following:
- Weekday impacts: Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout this project with a lane reduction in place. This is expected to be the standard daytime traffic impact during this project.
- Weeknight impacts: Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout this project with an altered centreline in place. This is expected to be the standard overnight traffic impact during this project.
Local, business and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Work on concrete driveway connections will be done in sections, so each impacted property will always have access. When work is happening on one part of a driveway, another part will remain open, or an alternate access point will be available.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: Sections of sidewalks will be temporarily closed as work progresses. Marked detours will be in place.
Access to the Sackville Greenway Trail and the Sackville Public Library will be maintained during this work.
Transit impact: There will be short-term closures of Halifax Transit bus stops as replacement and repair work progresses. Visit our website for up-to-date impacts to Halifax Transit routes and bus stops.

Traffic disruptions in support of Hammonds Plains Road repaving and maintenance work
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic delays on Hammonds Plains Road between civic 1220 Hammonds Plains Road and Gary Martin Drive.
These traffic delays are required to facilitate road maintenance and infrastructure work in this area, which will begin Thursday, July 16 and are anticipated to be completed Friday, August 14.
Time: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. (weeknights)
Work details: This project includes coordinated road maintenance and infrastructure improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility and long-term road conditions, including:
- Adjustments to manholes and water valves in the street
- Milling (removing) the top layer of worn asphalt
- Repaving with new asphalt
- Repainting pavement markings and crosswalks
- Shouldering, minor landscaping and driveway connection work
This work aligns with the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impacts: Traffic impacts are expected throughout the duration of the project and may include the following:
- Weekday impacts: The entirety of the project will be during weeknights and weekends only.
- Weeknight impacts: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights. A mix of stop-and-go and altered centre lines will be utilized to help maintain efficient traffic flow and to minimize disruption. This is expected to be the standard overnight traffic impact during this project.
- Weekend work: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Local access and emergency access will be maintained.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Road closure – Windmill Road
Location: Windmill Road, between Wyse Road and Lyle Street
Date: Monday, July 20 to Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026
Time: 24/7
Work details: This work requires underground utility connections related to a nearby development.
Traffic impact: The westbound lane will be closed to traffic. The eastbound lane and local traffic will be maintained during work. Detours and signage will be in place for vehicles. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.
Pedestrian Impact: The sidewalk along the north side of Windmill Road will be closed during work. Signage will be in place to guide pedestrians around the work area.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Victoria Road and Nantucket Avenue
Location: Intersection of Victoria Road and Nantucket Avenue
Date: Sunday, July 12
Time: 7 a.m. to noon
Work details: This work will facilitate infrastructure upgrades to support the Adaptive Traffic Signal Project.
Traffic impact: Traffic signals will be shut off. Drivers should expect delays while the intersection is flagged and are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Prince Albert Road
Location: Prince Albert Road, from the Mic Mac Aquatic Club to Nowlan Street
Date: Monday, July 13 and Tuesday, July 14
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: An altered centreline will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: The sidewalk in the area will be closed.

Traffic Delay – Rocky Lake Drive
Location: Rocky Lake Drive from civic 436 to Duke Street
Date: Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic delays on Jubilee Road, between Oxford Street and Bloomingdale Terrace.
These traffic delays are required to facilitate road maintenance and infrastructure work in this area, which will begin in mid-late July and are anticipated to be completed in late August 2026.
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for weekday work and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for weeknight work

These traffic delays are required to facilitate road maintenance and infrastructure work in this area, which will begin in mid-July and are anticipated to be completed in September 2026.
Time: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for weeknight work and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for weekend work
Work details: This project includes coordinated road maintenance and infrastructure improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility and long-term road conditions, including:
- Spot repairs to concrete curbs
- Adjustments to manholes and water valves in the street
- Milling (removing) the top layer of worn asphalt
- Repaving with new asphalt

Access to and from the Macdonald Bridge via Nantucket Avenue will be maintained at all times.
Emergency access, local access and access to the Zatzman Sportsplex will be maintained at all times.

Sidewalk impact: Sidewalks are expected to remain open throughout this project.
