Road Closure – Old Sambro Road
Location: Old Sambro Road, between Dunbrack Street and Herring Cove Road
Date: Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: The section of Old Sambro Road will be fully closed to traffic while work is underway. Drivers are asked to expect delays and use alternative routes wherever possible.
Transit impact: Detours will be in place for transit stops located within the work site.

Location: St. Margarets Bay Road, from Bowater Mersey Road to civic 5401
Date: Wednesday, June 24

Location: Sackville Street, between Lower Water and Barrington Streets

Road Closure – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Deal Street and Main Avenue
Dates and times: Wednesday, June 24 at 6 p.m. until the end of the day on Thursday, June 25, pending completion of the work.
Work details: This closure is needed to facilitate the safe dismantling of a damaged crane at 3640 Dutch Village Road, at the request of Department of Labour.
Traffic impact: Detours will be in place during this closure. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes whenever possible.
Sidewalk impact: Sidewalks in this area will be closed with marked detours in place.
Transit impact: Halifax Transit routes 2, 3, 4, 135, 136, 137 and 138 will be on detour during this closure. The bus stops that will be impacted during this closure will be available at: halifax.ca/htdisruptions

Location: Pleasant Street, between Marvin and Atlantic streets
Date: Tuesday, June 23
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate quality assurance work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–30 Regional Council Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway
Location: Bedford Highway, between Hammonds Plains Road and Convoy Run
Date: Monday, June 22, 2026
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate the replacement/adjustment of a natural gas valve.
Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained in both directions. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: The sidewalk will be closed while work is underway. Detour signage will be in place.
Transit impact: Bus stop #6254 will be closed.
Active transportation impact: The bicycle lane will be closed while work is underway. Detour signage will be in place.

Traffic Delay – Woodlawn Road
Location: Woodlawn Road, between Mount Edward and Valleyfield roads
Date: Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26
Time: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., two-way traffic will be maintained with an altered centreline in place.
From 4 to 7 p.m., there will be stop-and-go traffic in place.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Transit impact: The bus stop on Woodlawn Road at Guysborough Avenue (8595) will be closed while this work is underway.

Traffic disruptions in support of Windsor Street repaving and maintenance work
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic delays on Windsor Street, between North and Almon streets to facilitate road maintenance and infrastructure work in this area. Work will begin in mid-June and is anticipated to be completed by late July.
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for weekday work and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for weeknight work
Work details: This project includes coordinated road maintenance and infrastructure improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility and long-term road conditions, including:
Spot repairs to concrete curbs
Adjustments to manholes and water valves in the street
Milling (removing) the top layer of worn asphalt
Repaving with new asphalt
Repainting pavement markings and crosswalks
Minor landscaping and driveway tie-ins
This work aligns with the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Traffic impacts are expected throughout the duration of the project and may include:
Weekday impacts: Two-way traffic will be maintained with an altered centreline in place. This is expected to be the standard daytime traffic impact during the project.
Weeknight impacts: Stop-and-go traffic will be maintained to minimize disruption and avoid full road closures. This is expected to be the standard overnight traffic impact during the project.
Weekend work: Some locations may require weekend work to minimize daytime traffic impacts.
Local access and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Traffic disruptions in support of the Waverley Road guiderail and retaining wall project
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic disruptions along Waverley Road, between civics 1291 and 1335.
These disruptions are required to facilitate construction in support of the Waverley Road guiderail and retaining wall project, which is expected to begin during the week of June 8 (weather dependent) and be completed by late summer/early fall 2026.
Work details: This project will include several coordinated improvements designed to enhance road safety and long-term reliability, including:
Replacement and extension of the existing guiderail on the west side of Waverley Road adjacent to civic 1291
Shoulder widening toward Lake William to accommodate the new guiderail
Construction of a new retaining wall in select areas, along with slope reshaping and stabilization
Full‑width repaving of Waverley Road within the project area following construction
Replacement of stormwater pipes and culverts in the project area in coordination with Halifax Water
Temporary utility pole and line relocations in coordination with Nova Scotia Power, to facilitate the guiderail project
Traffic impacts: Traffic impacts are expected throughout the duration of the project and will include the following:
Stop-and-go traffic: For much of the project, this section of Waverley Road will be reduced to a single lane, with stop-and-go traffic in place day and night. This is expected to be the default traffic condition during this project.
Planned road closures: Some stages of the work will require short-term full road closures within the project area to ensure the safety of residents, road users and construction crews. These closures will be planned and communicated in advance. Local access will be maintained from both ends of the closure, and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Supreme Court and the southern intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Dutch Village Road
Date: Tuesday, May 12 to Friday, June 19 (weekdays only)
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate removal of temporary winter measures for installation of permanent infrastructure, and the installation of benches, grass sod and other remaining landscaping elements of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impact: Two‑way traffic will be maintained whenever possible; however, as work progresses, there will be temporary sections of stop‑and‑go traffic along Dutch Village Road. Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes where possible.
Sidewalk and active transportation impacts: There will be rolling sections of sidewalk and bike lane closures while this work is underway. Marked detours will be in place.

Street Closure – Halfway Lake Drive
Location: Halfway Lake Drive, near civic 88 Halfway Lake Drive
Date: April 17, 2026, until late 2027
Time: 24-7
Work details: This area has been closed out of an abundance of caution to protect public safety, as the culverts have reached the end of their useful life at this location. Municipal staff are prioritizing efforts to progress the replacement of these culverts with a new bridge. This project supports the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: A detour will be in place around this closure via Kipawa Crescent and Chippawa Street. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Active transportation impact: Access for people walking and rolling will be maintained during this closure.

Street Closure – Argyle Street
Location: Argyle Street, between Prince and Blowers streets
Date: Friday, April 17 until mid-November

Work details: This is to facilitate the seasonal closure of Argyle Street to motor vehicles, in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
