Upcoming traffic disruptions in support of Windsor Street repaving and maintenance work
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic delays on Windsor Street, between North and Almon streets to facilitate road maintenance and infrastructure work in this area. Work will begin in mid-June and is anticipated to be completed by late July.
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for weekday work and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for weeknight work
Work details: This project includes coordinated road maintenance and infrastructure improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility and long-term road conditions, including:
- Spot repairs to concrete curbs
- Adjustments to manholes and water valves in the street
- Milling (removing) the top layer of worn asphalt
- Repaving with new asphalt
- Repainting pavement markings and crosswalks
- Minor landscaping and driveway tie-ins
This work aligns with the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Traffic impacts are expected throughout the duration of the project and may include:
- Weekday impacts: Two-way traffic will be maintained with an altered centreline in place. This is expected to be the standard daytime traffic impact during the project.
- Weeknight impacts: Stop-and-go traffic will be maintained to minimize disruption and avoid full road closures. This is expected to be the standard overnight traffic impact during the project.
- Weekend work: Some locations may require weekend work to minimize daytime traffic impacts.
Local access and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Active transportation impact: Bike lanes in this area will be temporarily closed while this work is underway.

Road Closure – Waverley Road
Location: Waverley Road, between civics 1291 and 1335
Dates and times: From 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 to 7 a.m. on Monday, June 15 (weather dependent)
Work details: This is to facilitate temporary utility pole and line relocations in coordination with Nova Scotia Power, in support of the Waverley Road guiderail and retaining wall project.
Traffic impact: This section of Waverley Road will be closed while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible. Local access will be maintained from both ends of the closure, and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Traffic Delay – Parkland Drive
Location: Parkland Drive, between Kearney Lake Road and Farnham Gate Road
Date: Wednesday, June 10
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate natural gas pipeline installation.
Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained in both directions while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: The sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians. Detour signage will be in place.

Location: Joseph Zatzman Drive, between Akerley Boulevard and Wright Avenue

Time: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes when possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Bedford Highway and Holland Avenue
Location: Intersection of Bedford Highway and Holland Avenue
Date: Saturday, June 6
Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Lane drops and stop-and-go traffic will be in place during work. The traffic lights at the intersection will be shut down between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes when possible.
Active transportation impact: The bike lane on the Bedford Highway will be closed from Shore Avenue to High Street during work.

Date: Monday, June 8
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: There will be an altered centreline in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: The sidewalk will be closed on the west side of Windmill Road

Location: Intersection of Brunswick Street and Spring Garden Road
Date: Monday, June 8
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate Dalhousie Plaza Landscaping in support Brunswick Street Complete Streets project.
Traffic impact: An altered centreline will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Pedestrian impact: The north sidewalk of Spring Garden Road will be closed from Brunswick to Queen streets. Marked detours will be in place. Sidewalk users should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Date: Sunday, June 7 to Monday, June 8
Time: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate track maintenance on the level crossing near 99 Windsor Junction Road, in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: The track crossing will be fully closed overnight. Local access to homes and businesses will be permitted. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: South Street, between Barrington and Hollis streets
Date: Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 6
Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate utility connections for a nearby development.
Traffic impact: This section of road will be closed while work is underway. A marked detour will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Pedestrian impact: The north side sidewalk will be closed while work is underway. The south side sidewalk will remain open. Sidewalk users should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Transit impact: Halifax Transit will be detoured, but no bus stops will be impacted.
