Christopher Stannix ferry returns to service today

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the Christopher Stannix ferry will return to service at 12:45 p.m. today, May 29. The Alderney ferry will then operate on its usual schedule of every 15 minutes on weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 8:15 p.m.

The Christopher Stannixferry had been out of service since May 22 due to a steering system issue that required proprietary manufactured parts to be shipped internationally. The parts arrived, were installed and the vessel is returning to service following successful testing and sea trials.

The Craig Blake ferry continues to undergo scheduled inspections, as well as a significant repair, and will not be available for service until later this year.

Updates on the CraigBlake ferry will be provided in future public service announcements, on the Halifax Transit service disruptions webpage and on Halifax Transit and municipal social media platforms.
