Halifax Transit service changes take effect Monday, May 18

Halifax Transit will implement several service changes starting Monday, May 18, 2026. These include routing and scheduling adjustments on multiple bus routes to support the upcoming construction of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor project and to improve service efficiency and connections across the network.

Route changes Routes 1, 8, 192, 194, 196 and outbound trips on Route 330 will operate on new routings due to construction related to Phase 2 of the Bayers Road Transit Priority Corridor project. As a result, stops along Bayers Road, between Connaught Avenue and Windsor Street, will not be serviced during construction. Temporary stops will be in place along Connaught Avenue, Almon Street and Windsor Street. These routing changes are expected to remain in effect for approximately two years while construction is underway. Learn more about this project at: halifax.ca/bayersroad

Route 29 will continue operating on a long-term detour due to the Tower Road bridge closure. Route maps and stop announcements have been updated to reflect this detour, which is anticipated to remain in place until approximately December 2026. Learn more about this project at: halifax.ca/CNbridgesrehab

Schedule changes Minor schedule adjustments will take place on Routes 51A and 64 to improve efficiency and connections with other routes. Routes 4 and 90 will also see minor timepoint adjustments.

Riders’ Guides and route maps  As of May 18, 2026, printed Halifax Transit Riders’ Guides and route maps will no longer be produced. Customers can access printable schedules and individual route maps online at: halifax.ca/transit

Real-time alerts Halifax Transit has introduced a new real-time alerts page to help customers stay informed about detours, stop closures and trip cancellations. Visit halifax.ca/realtime-alerts for more information.

Customers are encouraged to plan their trips in advance and check updated schedules and maps before travelling. All route information will be updated on third-party trip planning apps starting May 18, 2026.
