Luckily, he was unharmed, just a little hungry! Anything you leave outside has the possibility of being eaten or entangled in by some passing animal. Not only mouse/rat traps, but poisions, food waste, trash like string, balloons, nuts and bolts, nails... we've seen just about everything inside or around an animal. Animals often don't understand what they come across, and will treat many things as potential food or playthings. Especially baby animals!
