Traffic Delay – Ochterloney Street
Location: Ochterloney Street, between Edward and King streets
Date: Friday, May 15
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate safe crane activity.
Traffic impact: The section of road will be closed while work is underway. A marked detour will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Herring Cove Road and Iris Avenue
Location: Intersection of Herring Cove Road and Iris Avenue
Date: Thursday, May 14
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate guiderail installation work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway
Location: Bedford Highway, between Seton Road and Sherbrooke Drive
Dates: Thursday, May 21
Time: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m
Work details: This is to facilitate the safe pipe investigation in support of an intersection upgrade in this area.
Traffic impact: A lane closure will be in place while work is underway. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Carmichael Street
Location: Carmichael Street, between Brunswick and Argyle streets
Date: Wednesday, May 13 to Friday, May 29 (weekdays only)
Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: A lane closure will be in place while work is underway. The street will be accessible from Brunswick Street only, with detour signs in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Woodlawn Road
Location: Woodlawn Road, between Mount Edward and Valleyfield roads
Date: Wednesday, May 13 to Friday, May 15
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: A lane reduction will be in place with two-way traffic maintained while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: Sections of sidewalks will be closed in the work area as construction progresses. Marked detours will be in place. Access to local properties and businesses maintained.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Supreme Court and the southern intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Dutch Village Road
Date: Tuesday, May 12 to Friday, June 19 (weekdays only)
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate removal of temporary winter measures for installation of permanent infrastructure, and the installation of benches, grass sod and other remaining landscaping elements of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impact: Two‑way traffic will be maintained whenever possible; however, as work progresses, there will be temporary sections of stop‑and‑go traffic along Dutch Village Road. Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes where possible.
Sidewalk and active transportation impacts: There will be rolling sections of sidewalk and bike lane closures while this work is underway. Marked detours will be in place.

Location: Dartmouth Road, between Bedford Highway and Windmill Road
Date: Tuesday, May 12 to Friday, May 15
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repair work in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained with an altered centreline in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Dartmouth Road
Locations: Dartmouth Road, between Bedford Highway and Magazine Hill
Date: Monday, May 11
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: An altered centreline will be in place during work hours. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Transit impact: Two stops will be closed while work is underway including Dartmouth Road after Wardour Street (6557) and Dartmouth Road after Obrine Street (6554).

Traffic Delay – Spring Avenue
Location: Spring Avenue, between Bella Vista Drive and Collins Grove
Date: Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 22
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is need to install traffic calming and trail repair in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Stop and go traffic will be in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: A detour will be in place from civic 318 to 328 Spring Avenue to guide pedestrians around the work area.
Transit impact: Bus stops 2365 and 8326 on Spring Avenue will be closed Monday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Passengers are asked to use bus stops 2267 and 2257.
Active transportation impact: There will be a temporary closure of the trail between civic 318 and 328 Spring Avenue leading to Piper Street.

Street Closure – Bishop Street
Location: Bishop Street, between Barrington and Lower Water streets
Date: Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 29
Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: The street closure will be in place with local and emergency access maintained while work is underway. Marked detours will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Green Street
Location: Green Street, between Barrington and Queen streets
Date: Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 29
Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: A lane closure will be in place while work is underway. The street will be accessible from Barrington Street only, with detour signs in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Brunswick Street and Spring Garden Road
Location: Intersection of Brunswick Street and Spring Garden Road
Date: Sunday, May 10
Time: 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate electrical work on streetlights and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs). This work represents some of the final aspects of the Brunswick Street Complete Streets project.
Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: The north sidewalk will be closed with access maintained via the south sidewalk.

Street Closure – Halfway Lake Drive
Location: Halfway Lake Drive, near civic 88 Halfway Lake Drive
Date: April 17, 2026, until late 2027
Time: 24-7
Work details: This area has been closed out of an abundance of caution to protect public safety, as the culverts have reached the end of their useful life at this location. Municipal staff are prioritizing efforts to progress the replacement of these culverts with a new bridge. This project supports the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: A detour will be in place around this closure via Kipawa Crescent and Chippawa Street. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Active transportation impact: Access for people walking and rolling will be maintained during this closure.

Street Closure – Argyle Street
Location: Argyle Street, between Prince and Blowers streets
Date: Friday, April 17 until mid-November
Time: 24-7
Work details: This is to facilitate the seasonal closure of Argyle Street to motor vehicles, in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Argyle Street will remain fully open to people walking, cycling and rolling. Access to all stores and restaurants will be maintained. Drivers are asked to use alternative routes.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Supreme Court and the southern intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Dutch Village Road
Date: Monday, April 20 to Friday, June 19 (weekdays only)
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate the installation of benches, grass sod and other remaining landscaping elements of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impact: Dutch Village Road is expected to remain open throughout construction, with two lanes of traffic maintained for much of this work with an altered centreline in place. Updates will be provided for planned periods of stop-and-go traffic as work progresses.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: Sidewalks are expected to remain open during this work.

Road Closure – Tower Road
Location: Tower Road CN bridge, between Southwood and Pine Hill drives
Date: Wednesday, Feb. 4 until December 2026
Time: 24-7
Work details: This is to facilitate the Tower Road CN Bridge Rehabilitation project, part of a long-term plan to improve safety and reliability by rehabilitating seven CN-owned bridges on the Halifax peninsula.
Traffic impact: The Tower Road CN bridge will be closed for all use, including drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, while this work is underway. A marked detour via the Young Avenue CN bridge will be in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
The municipality is working with CN, Halifax Water and other involved utilities to coordinate construction activities and minimize impacts where possible.
Transit impact: Halifax Transit route 29 will detour around this work. Five bus stops will be impacted during this closure to accommodate these changes. Updates will be posted on: halifax.ca/htdisruptions
