**** New Glasgow Police Release New Glasgow Police Charge Young Driver with Stunting on Busy East River Road On May 3 at approximately 2:00 p.m., a New Glasgow Police officer conducting traffic enforcement on East River Road observed a black Honda Civic travelling 103 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. The vehicle was also operating without a license plate. A traffic stop was conducted, and a 17-year-old driver from Pictou County was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for stunting. The driver received a summary offence ticket, an immediate seven-day license suspension, and the vehicle was seized. East River Road is a busy thoroughfare in Pictou County and at the time of the incident, traffic volume was moderate to heavy. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, any driver exceeding the speed limit by 50 km/h or more may be charged with stunting. A stunting charge carries a fine of $2,422.50 for a first offence, six demerit points, and a seven-day roadside license suspension.
