Traffic Delay – Starboard Drive
Location: Starboard Drive, between Fleetview Drive and Brigadier Crescent
Date: Thursday, April 30 and Monday, May 4
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is needed for the safe installation of a natural gas pipeline in the area.
Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic in place while this work is underway, with one lane maintained at all times. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Pedestrian Impact: Sidewalks will be closed while this work is underway, with a marked detour in place.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Supreme Court and the southern intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Dutch Village Road
Date: Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate removal of temporary winter measures for installation of concrete as part of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impact: There will be rolling sections of stop-and-go traffic while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk and active transportation impacts: There will be rolling sections of sidewalk and bike lane closures while this work is underway. Marked detours will be in place.

Upcoming traffic disruptions in Cole Harbour
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of upcoming traffic disruptions on Cole Harbour Road, Bissett Road and John Stewart Drive.
These disruptions are required to facilitate the installation and restoration of natural gas main and service.
Locations:
Cole Harbour Road (Cumberland Drive to Bissett Road)
Bissett Road (Cole Harbour Road to Civic 15)
John Stewart Drive (Cole Harbour Road to Civic 5)
Dates: Thursday, April 30 to Tuesday, June 30
Traffic impacts:
Cole Harbour Road: Work will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.
John Stewart Drive: Work at the intersection with Cole Harbour Road will occur overnight and on weekends only.
Bissett Road: Work at the intersection with Cole Harbour Road will occur overnight and on weekends only.
Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible.
Pedestrian impacts: Traffic control personnel will direct pedestrians through the work zone safely.

Traffic Delay – Mount Edward Road
Location: Mount Edward Road, between Wanda Lane and Spring Avenue
Date: Tuesday, April 28 to Wednesday, April 29
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is needed for the safe installation of a natural gas pipeline in the area.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place, with one lane maintained at all times. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.
Pedestrian Impact: North side sidewalks within the work area will be closed. South side sidewalks will not be impacted.

Road closure – Ochterloney Street
Location: Ochterloney Street, between Edward and King streets
Date: Wednesday, April 29 to Thursday, April 30
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is needed for the safe installation of barriers and fencing for a development.
Traffic impact: Detours will be in place for vehicles. The temporary pedestrian walkway alongside the development will be closed while work is underway. Signage will be in place to guide drivers and pedestrians. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Herring Cove Road and Iris Avenue
Location: Intersection of Herring Cove Road and Iris Avenue
Date: Monday, April 27
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate the installation of guardrails in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Lane Closure – Robie Street
Location: Robie Street, between Quinpool and Jubilee roads
Date: Saturday, April 25
Time: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This work is related to the provincial QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion project.
Traffic impact: This section of Robie Street will be closed to southbound traffic with a marked detour in place. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible. Local streets will be accessible through Vernon Street. Northbound traffic will not be impacted.
Pedestrian Impact: Sidewalks along the east side of Robie Street within the work area will remain closed. A marked pedestrian detour will be in place. West side sidewalks will not be impacted.

Street Closure – Halfway Lake Drive
Location: Halfway Lake Drive, near civic 88 Halfway Lake Drive
Date: April 17, 2026, until late 2027
Time: 24-7
Work details: This area has been closed out of an abundance of caution to protect public safety, as the culverts have reached the end of their useful life at this location. Municipal staff are prioritizing efforts to progress the replacement of these culverts with a new bridge. This project supports the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: A detour will be in place around this closure via Kipawa Crescent and Chippawa Street. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Active transportation impact: Access for people walking and rolling will be maintained during this closure.

Street Closure – Argyle Street
Location: Argyle Street, between Prince and Blowers streets
Date: Friday, April 17 until mid-November
Time: 24-7
Work details: This is to facilitate the seasonal closure of Argyle Street to motor vehicles, in support of the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
Traffic impact: Argyle Street will remain fully open to people walking, cycling and rolling. Access to all stores and restaurants will be maintained. Drivers are asked to use alternative routes.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Supreme Court and the southern intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Dutch Village Road
Date: Monday, April 20 to Friday, June 19 (weekdays only)
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate the installation of benches, grass sod and other remaining landscaping elements of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impact: Dutch Village Road is expected to remain open throughout construction, with two lanes of traffic maintained for much of this work with an altered centreline in place. Updates will be provided for planned periods of stop-and-go traffic as work progresses.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
Sidewalk impact: Sidewalks are expected to remain open during this work.

Road Closure – Tower Road
Location: Tower Road CN bridge, between Southwood and Pine Hill drives
Date: Wednesday, Feb. 4 until December 2026
Time: 24-7
Work details: This is to facilitate the Tower Road CN Bridge Rehabilitation project, part of a long-term plan to improve safety and reliability by rehabilitating seven CN-owned bridges on the Halifax peninsula.
Traffic impact: The Tower Road CN bridge will be closed for all use, including drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, while this work is underway. A marked detour via the Young Avenue CN bridge will be in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.
The municipality is working with CN, Halifax Water and other involved utilities to coordinate construction activities and minimize impacts where possible.
Transit impact: Halifax Transit route 29 will detour around this work. Five bus stops will be impacted during this closure to accommodate these changes. Updates will be posted on: halifax.ca/htdisruptions

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 106, Pictou
Highway 106 between the Pictou Rotary and the ferry terminal in Caribou will be reduced to one lane for about four kilometres for paving from Monday, April 27, until Monday, August 31.
Traffic control will be in place. Work will take place Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Campbell Brook Bridge, Sydney
The Campbell Brook Bridge on Keltic Drive is closed for replacement until Friday, July 31.
The detour is via Route 305 to Northwest Arm Road to Route 239 to Route 305. The bridge is closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Barnhill Bridge, Belmont
The Barnhill Bridge on Belmont Road, located between Cross Road and Plains Road, will be closed until further notice.
Detour signs are in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Edmund Lynds Bridge, North River
Route 311 south of civic address 1457 and north of civic address 1333 is closed for replacement of the Edmund Lynds Bridge until Monday, November 30.
Traffic travelling south of civic address 1457 will detour via Route 311, Upper Brookside Road, Brookside Road and Mountain Lee Road.
Traffic travelling north of civic address 1333 will detour via Route 311, Mountain Lee Road, Brookside Road and Upper Brookside Road.Detour signs are in place. This section of Route 311 and the bridge are closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Truss Bridge, Truro
The Salmon River Truss Bridge connecting Walker and Main streets will have alternating lane closures for roadwork until Wednesday, September 30. Work takes place daily from sunrise to sunset; signs and traffic lights are in place. ---HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 107 Twinning
Highway 107 from Burnside to Lake Loon will have temporary closures for blasting that is required for twinning. The closures will be 10 minutes long, and there will be up to two per day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Work takes place Monday to Friday until Thursday, July 30. Traffic control and signs are in place.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Enfield
Highway 102 between Exit 7 and Exit 8 will be reduced to one lane at times both northbound and southbound for construction in the median.
Work takes place from sunrise to sunset until Saturday, October 31.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Highway 105, Aberdeen
Highway 105 is reduced to one lane for 4.5 kilometres southerly near the intersection with Lewis Mountain Road and Route 223 to install guardrails and make repairs.
Work will take place Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Friday, May 1.No detour is available. Traffic control will be on site and motorists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103 Twinning, Hubbards to Chester
Highway 103 from two kilometres west of Exit 6 to four kilometres west of Exit 7 has temporary lane closures for blasting until May 2027.
As part of the same project, Trunk 3 from one kilometre west of the carpool parking lot at Exit 7 to 400 metres east of the lot, has temporary lane closures for blasting until June 2026.
The work in both locations is planned for most weekdays at about 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for about 10 minutes at a time. The eastbound and westbound lanes are both closed during the blasting. Traffic control is in place.There will not be blasting or lane closures on the following: - after noon on Fridays - holidays and days before holidays - weekends.
---PICTOU COUNTY: Moore’s Ford Bridge, River John
The Moore’s Ford Bridge on West Branch Road will be closed until further notice. The detour is via West Branch Road, College Grant Road and Route 256. ---PICTOU COUNTY: Welsford Bridge, River John
The Welsford Bridge on Old Pictou Road is closed until further notice. The detour is via Old Pictou Road, Allen Road, Trunk 6 and River John Road.
