While completing notes from a previous traffic stop along Hwy. 104, a Northwest Traffic Services officer detected a vehicle approaching from behind at 180 km/h. Moments later, the radar audio tone intensified, confirming a speed of 199 km/h.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, a Honda Civic, on Hwy. 142, just off Exit 5 of Hwy. 104.
During their interaction with the driver, a 20-year-old man from Moncton, the officer noted an odour of alcohol.
The driver was issued a seven-day administrative licence suspension for low blood alcohol concentration, charged with stunting, which carries a fine of $2,422.50, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
