Did you know that April is dedicated to raising awareness about speeding and aggressive driving in Nova Scotia?
According to the Nova Scotia Road Safety Calendar, this month serves as a crucial reminder for all drivers to prioritize safety and follow speed limits on our roads.
On April 2, the Halifax Regional Detachment Traffic Unit, in collaboration with South East Traffic Services – Metro and the Halifax Regional Police Traffic Unit, conducted a focused Lidar speeding project on Hwy. 103 outbound near Hubbards. This initiative was part of ongoing efforts to address dangerous driving behaviours and keep our roadways safe.
During the operation, officers carried out 30 traffic stops and issued a total of 35 summary offence tickets. Notably, speeding offences accounted for 26 tickets, highlighting the persistent issue of drivers exceeding posted speed limits. In addition, officers addressed administrative offences such as no insurance, expired registration or expired safety inspections, which made up the remaining 9 tickets.
Speeding and aggressive driving put everyone at risk. These enforcement actions underscore the importance of adhering to traffic laws – not just during awareness months, but every day. Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone.
