**** RCMP Release On February 19, at approximately 10:25 a.m., officers with the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of an impaired driver in a grey SUV leaving a business in the 22600 block of Hwy. 7, Sheet Harbour. The vehicle was last seen travelling east. An officer located a grey Hyundai Tucson travelling east and conducted a traffic stop. The driver showed signs of impairment and provided a roadside breath sample, which resulted in a fail. A 54-year-old man from Port Dufferin was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Sheet Harbour RCMP Detachment, where he provided two breath samples registering 280 mg% and 280 mg%. The man was later released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date. On February 20, at approximately 12:35 a.m., officers responded to a report of a crashed vehicle in the 3800 block of St. Margarets Bay Rd. Officers learned that a Subaru Forester had been travelling north when it struck a snowbank, collided with a parked truck, and continued down the road before hitting a power pole. Officers arrived on scene and located the driver, who was out of the vehicle and uninjured. The man, a 40-year-old from Westphal, showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to the Tantallon RCMP Detachment, where he provided two breath samples registering 160 mg% and 160 mg%. The man was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date. The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
