Update – Alderney Ferry service reduction until further notice
The Halifax Regional Municipality is providing an update on the Alderney Ferry service reduction that began on Monday, Jan. 12. As previously announced, the Alderney Ferry service has been reduced from every 15 minutes to every 30 minutes on weekdays starting at 7 a.m. until 8:15 p.m. until further notice.
This service reduction is due to repairs on the Vincent Coleman vessel, which experienced a steering system issue last week that requires parts to be replaced.
Halifax Transit staff are working with the international supplier in Europe to obtain the required parts to complete the repair to the Vincent Coleman vessel as soon as possible.
Additionally, the Craig Blake, one of Halifax Transit’s five ferries, is undergoing scheduled inspections, as well as a significant repair, and is not available for service until later this year.
At this time, it is expected the repair to the Vincent Coleman will be completed and the ferry returned to service by the end of January, though timing may vary dependent on delivery of required parts.
