Traffic Delay – Almon Street

Location: Almon Street, between Robie and Clifton streets

Date: Wednesday, Dec. 10

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate roadway reinstatement work of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: There will be stop-and-go traffic in place while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Roadway Closure – Jubilee Road

Location: Jubilee Road, between Robie and Vernon streets

Date: Monday, Dec. 8 to Wednesday, Dec. 10

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This is to facilitate natural gas service installation and roadway reinstatement.

Traffic impact: This area will be closed with marked detours in place during while this work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – St. Margarets Bay Road

Location: St. Margarets Bay Road, from Chandler to Bowater Mersey roads

Date: Monday, Dec. 8 and Tuesday, Dec. 9

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate line painting in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: An altered centerline will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project area

Location: Dutch Village Road, between Joseph Howe Drive and Alma Crescent

Dates: Friday, Sept. 19 to Friday, Dec. 21, 2025

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is part of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.

Traffic impacts: Access to nearby businesses and properties is being maintained throughout this project.

At 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, crews expect the current phase of work along the west side of Dutch Village Road to be completed.

After 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, crews will shift the lane closure to the east side of Dutch Village Road to facilitate the next phase of work. The changes outlined below will also come into effect.

Dutch Village Road will open to southbound traffic from Supreme Court toward the southern intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Bayers Road. Dutch Village Road will be closed to northbound traffic in the project area.

Access to and from these streets along the west side of Dutch Village Road will open:

Sunnybrae Avenue

Central Avenue

Rosedale Avenue

Frederick Avenue

Rufus Avenue

Access to and from these streets along the east side of Dutch Village Road will close:

Deal Street (local access maintained via the northern intersection with Dutch Village Road)

Andrew Street (local access maintained via Percy Street)

Detour signage will be in place, and personnel will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Pedestrian impacts: Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Transit impacts: The existing Halifax Transit impacts will continue to be in place during the second phase of this work.

Inbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alex Street, Main Avenue and Titus Street to Dutch Village Road. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:

Rosedale Avenue before Dutch Village Road (8243)

Dutch Village Road before Andrew Street (6609)

Dutch Village Road before Sunnybrae Avenue (6638)

Joseph Howe Drive before Scot Street (6986) (only for route 28)

Outbound routes 28 and 137 will be detoured via Alma Crescent, Main Avenue and Alex Street to Rosedale Avenue. The following bus stops will be temporarily closed during this work:

Dutch Village Road before Rosedale Avenue (6613)

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Bedford Highway and Hammonds Plains Road

Location: Intersection of Bedford Highway and Hammonds Plains Road

Date: Sunday, Oct. 5 to Friday, Dec. 5

Time: 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Work details: This work includes upgrading traffic signals, in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: An altered centerline and stop-and-go traffic will be in place, maintaining two lanes of traffic while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road

Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court

Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required

Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.

Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.

Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.

Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.

Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.

Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:

Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area

Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure

The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use

Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Road Closure – Young Street

Location: Young Street, from Oxford to Connolly streets

Date: Wednesday, Dec. 3 to Monday, Dec. 8

Time: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Work details: This work is needed for natural gas pipeline installation and road repair.

Traffic impact: Local access will be maintained. Detour will be in place on Cork Street. Traffic signage will be in place to guide drivers. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.

Road Closure – Herring Cove Road

Location: Herring Cove Road from Purcells Cove Road to Osborne Street

Date: Saturday, Dec 6 to Sunday, Dec. 7

Time: 7 a.m. on Saturday to 7 a.m. on Sunday

Work details: This work is for sewer main rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: A signed detour will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Campbell Brook Bridge, Sydney

The Campbell Brook Bridge on Keltic Drive is closed for replacement until July 31, 2026.

The detour is via Route 305 to Northwest Arm Road to Route 239 to Route 305. The bridge is closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The intersection of Highway 125 and Grand Lake Road is reduced to one lane for overnight roadwork until Monday, December 15.

Traffic control is in place. Work takes place nightly from sunset to sunrise.

--- CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Trunk 4, Sydney River

Trunk 4 (Kings Road) between the Sydney River roundabout and the Kenwood Drive roundabout is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Monday, December 15.

Traffic control is in place. Work takes place daily from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Highway102, Millbrook to Shortts Lake

Highway 102 southbound from the Millbrook interchange to the Shortts Lake Road overpass is reduced to one lane for paving until Friday, December 12.

The speed limit is reduced, and traffic will be stopped for short periods. Work takes place daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice because of a bridge closure.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Pirate Harbour Bridge, Pirate Harbour

The Pirate Harbour Bridge on Route 344 is reduced to one lane for construction until Saturday, December 20.

Traffic signals are in place, and motorists should expect delays. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Exit 3, Highway 102, Bedford

The Highway 102 southbound off-ramp at Exit 3 (to Hammonds Plains Road) is closed between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays for the ramp-widening project: https://news.novascotia.ca/en/2025/11/12/upgrades-exit-3-highway-102

The work is expected to be finished by Friday, December 19. The detour is via Exit 2B (to Larry Uteck Boulevard). The ramp is open evenings and weekends. ---

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 118, Dartmouth

Highway 118 from the intersection with Micmac Boulevard to one kilometre south of Exit 13E is reduced to one lane for road construction until Friday, December 19.

Traffic control is in place. Work takes place daily from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Enfield

Highway 102 southbound from Exit 7 to Exit 5A is reduced to one lane for paving until Tuesday, December 16.

Work takes place 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and Fridays between noon and 6 p.m. Traffic control is in place and motorists should expect delays.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Enfield

Highway 102 southbound between Exit 7 and Exit 8 is reduced to one lane for paving until Tuesday, December 16.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Shubenacadie Bridge, Trunk 2

The Shubenacadie Bridge on Trunk 2 at Route 224 is reduced to one lane until Tuesday, December 16.

Traffic signals are in place, and work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Trunk 1, Windsor

Trunk 1 from the Windsor town line to the St. Croix Bridge is reduced to one lane for construction until further notice.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103 Twinning, Hubbards to Chester

Highway 103 from two kilometres west of Exit 6 to four kilometres west of Exit 7 has temporary lane closures for blasting until May 2027.

The work is planned for most weekdays at about 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for about 10 minutes at a time. The eastbound and westbound lanes are both closed during the blasting. Traffic control is in place.

There will not be blasting or lane closures on the following: - after noon on Fridays - holidays and days before holidays - weekends.

PICTOU COUNTY: Moore’s Ford Bridge, River John

The Moore’s Ford Bridge on West Branch Road will be closed until further notice. The detour is via West Branch Road, College Grant Road and Route 256. ---

PICTOU COUNTY: Welsford Bridge, River John

The Welsford Bridge on Old Pictou Road is closed until further notice. The detour is via Old Pictou Road, Allen Road, Trunk 6 and River John Road.
