Upcoming lane realignment on Highway 111 in support of the Windsor Street Exchange project
Location: Highway 111, between Massachusetts Avenue ramps and the Windsor Street Exchange
Date: Beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, continuing until the completion of overpass construction
Time: 24/7
Work details: This lane realignment is in support of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Windsor Street Exchange project, including the future construction of a new overpass and roadway realignments. These changes will remain in place until the overpass construction is complete and represent the first long-term traffic impacts for this project.
Traffic impacts: Highway 111 will be realigned between the Windsor Street Exchange and Massachusetts Avenue with two lanes in each direction.
The existing continuous lane from the outbound Massachusetts Avenue ramp toward the Windsor Street Exchange will be removed to facilitate this realignment. As a result, drivers accessing Highway 111 from this ramp will need to merge with traffic from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street. Drivers approaching the Windsor Street Exchange from Massachusetts Avenue should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.
Transit impacts: Halifax Transit routes 135, 136, 137 and 138 will follow detour routes for the duration of the ongoing project preparation work and throughout project construction.
